Hello my name is David N Slater
Several years ago I was admitted to hospital on mental health grounds. After that i was referred to a mental health charity based in Huddersfield. When i first attended I was in a bad place I could hardly carry a rhythm. I had limited social skills and did not know what a DAW was let alone know how to use one. I had difficulty writing my hands would shake with nerves due to my anguished thoughts After several years of medication and therapy I am in a much better place.
I attended Kirklees Music School now known as Musica Kirklees for 2 years. I can play flute now and piano though only in Eb major which seems a bit weird to me. I can use a D.A.W and compose music on musescore. As far as composing is concerned I often use a french technique called musical cipher which is where each letter of the alphabet is transcribed into a musical note. I used this technique to compose my The Fruit of the Spirit album. I attend the Elim Pentecostal church in Dewsbury.
is a music and arts focused mental health charity which has various workshops in both Huddersfield and Dewsbury. There are several workshops available throughout the week, ranging from writing to dance and samba drumming to music tech based workshops using Apple's Logic.
A far as my studio setup goes i have a satellite pro laptop linked to my m-audio external sound card. I have a Watson amplifier linked to my soundcard and MS16 Behringer monitor speakers linked to my laptop I have a subzero condensing microphone. I have an evolution mk-261 midi controller keyboard
Instruments I have are electric guitar, electro acoustic bass, flute, fife, penny whistle, recorder, drum machine, 2 electro acoustic ukeleles and a classical spanish guitar.
